We are a team of experienced psychologists and a general practitioner, specialized in the treatment of mouse and rat phobia and other fears. The freedom of a life without unnecessary fear, that is what Kindt Clinics stands for.
Live freely without fear of rats or mice
Many people fear mice and rats. After all, they are often unwelcome guests. However, if the fear of encountering a rat or mouse is excessive, it is called mouse phobia or rat phobia.
While someone with this phobia rationally knows that a mouse or rat cannot be life-threatening, that does not matter once the fear strikes. The threat predominates.
Because mice and rats cannot be avoided with 100% certainty in daily life, these phobias can be very debilitating.

Frequently asked questions about the treatment of the fear of mice and rats
Memrec for mouse or rat phobia is unique because of its short duration (2 physical appointments) and high effectiveness (90% pass). The treatment starts with an online intake interview. If we expect the treatment to be suitable for you, and you decide to go for it, we can then plan the treatment.
On the day of the treatment you will come to Kindt Clinics, and we start with a chat. When you are ready, the practitioner and you will go to a room with a mouse or rat in a cage or tray. The practitioner will help you to evoke the fear in the right way. You will of course never be surprised or forced to do anything. After the exposure, you will be given the pill (a beta blocker), and you will stay with us for 2 hours for the resting period.
A day (or a few days) later you come back to the clinic. Together, we will test the effect of the treatment. You should immediately notice that your body does not show the strong physical response anymore when you see the mouse or rat again. We take our time to get used to this experience and build your confidence.
After the treatment, we like to keep in touch, and you are always welcome for an extra practice session.
Every mouse and rat phobia is different. Some people get a fear response seeing a picture of a mouse, and for others the fear only concerns live mice or rats. Some detest the tail, others especially the snout, and some don't even know exactly why they fear these rodents.
In some people the fear is limited to only mice or only rats, and in others both animals evoke the same amount of fear. Some people have had a specific negative experience with a mouse or rat, and others have no idea where the fear originated.
How the fear originated is not relevant for the treatment at Kindt Clinics. During the intake interview, we ask many questions about your fear in order to prepare the treatment. Do we use a mouse during the treatment, but are you also afraid of rats, or vice versa? The effect of the treatment should extend to both types of animals. We will test this with you.
In our view, a treatment is successful if the fear of mice and / or rats no longer limits you in your daily life. No one is fond of having mice or rats in their house, but you should be able to handle it without the excessive fear response you used to have.
The day after the treatment you should immediately notice that the strong physical reaction does not occur when you see a mouse or rat again. People may still feel tense though, or afraid that the fear will return. We will practice with you to give you the confidence that the fear will stay away.
83% of the treatments for mouse and rat phobia succeed in one go, and another 7% the second time. The effect is permanent.
The most important success factors are: we must be able to properly reactivate the fear, and you must be motivated enough to overcome your fear.
In order for the treatment to be effective, we need to work with a real mouse or rat. How close you would need to get to the mouse or rat to trigger the fear in the right way differs from person to person. As difficult as it is, it helps if you immerse yourself into the fear for once. It speaks for itself that we never surprise you or force you to do anything.
