Specific fears

and phobias

Kindt Clinics specializes in the treatment of phobias. Please feel free to contact us to discuss whether the treatment is right for you.

Your body tells you you’re not safe

A phobia is an intense fear of something that is not actually dangerous. Although you rationally know that something is not life-threatening, your body still reacts with high anxiety.

A phobia can develop after a specific negative experience, but usually there is no clear cause. Where a fear originated does not matter for the treatment at Kindt Clinics.

It is often underestimated how debilitating specific phobias can be.

Symptoms of a specific phobia

Quick and effective phobia treatment

Kindt Clinics was founded by Prof. dr. Merel Kindt from the University of Amsterdam. Based on 20 years of scientific research, she developed the fast and effective Memrec method for treating irrational fears. We welcome people from all over the world.

Three appointments

Intake interview (online), treatment, and outcome test.

High success rate

With 85% of our patients, the treatment is successful.

Permanent result

After a successful treatment, the fear does not return.

Memrec is suitable for almost all specific phobias

Memrec is effective for all phobias that can be triggered during the treatment, such as:

  • Claustrophobia
  • Fear of needles or blood
  • Fear of spiders, cockroaches or other insects
  • Fear of dogs, mice, snakes or other animals
  • Fear of heights
  • Emetophobia (fear of someone being sick)

Memrec is not suitable for broader anxiety disorders, or for example, performance anxiety or separation anxiety. Memrec is also usually not suitable for social anxiety.

Do you have a fear that we could specifically address during the treatment, but are you unsure if the method is suitable for you? Feel free to contact us.

"Multiple times, I burst into tears because such a small buzzing creature had once again ruined my day. The result was that on days with beautiful weather, I spent more hours indoors than outdoors. I was definitely aware that this was not a normal reaction."
